Brett (aka Falstaff)
foobar Skinner since 2006

1.How long have you skinned Foobar2000?

I've started to skin foobar in November 2006. I've known foobar maybe a month before by chance...
the first time I've run it, i remember that i found it cool even without any skin :)
why so cool? Winamp 2.9 was good and more eye candy at this time, but foobar brought to me
a kind of freedom by it's ease of use and this cool old school play list look! so great! so light!

Then, I've started to search resources about my new player and I've just discovered some
very nice skins for my new baby! Wow, we can do that too !! so, I've started to search
what's a 'component'? Where have i to save it ?... using them! and finally, creating my
first config and posting it on HydrogenAudio the 19th November 2006, follow my first post
here :…
and don't laugh, it was my first try under ColumnsUI :D. Btw, the feedback was good as you can
read in the thread, so I've resumed to skin until today.

Here is all has started!

here are some other old post with some other earlier configs ...……
then the marvellous PanelsUI was born and I've tried it :………

2.What do you like most about Foobar2000?

you control all about your music, tags ... and the ease of use of foobar and all its components (thanx to the community!)

but the best thing is that i can mod it as i want, what i love is coding and drawing, foobar allow me to express my both passions.

3.Where do you get most of your ideas for skinning?

mind :) ... what else :D

4.What is a good resource for those wanting to skin Foobar2000?

Hmmm, there are many sources to learn basics, there isn't all in one place, so people have to browse the web. Try Hydrogenaudio (which is the main foobar home) to find some good advises and support.

5.Perhaps some tips and tricks?

no :)
seriously i advise anyone who want to skin to mod a config at first, just try to modify some title format or javascript lines, to understand how it works, then if you have some good ideas for skins, try to do them, there is always somebody ready to help you ;)

and most of all, keep listening music!
